Two Weeks Notice

I leave for France in two weeks.  I leave for France in two weeks.  YIKES...I LEAVE FOR FRANCE IN TWO WEEKS!!!

It still seems completely odd to me to actually be going back.  I'm reading new assistant blogs and all of the emotions connected with departure (fear, anxiety, excitement, fear, happiness, fear) have come flooding back (although I'm sure that I will avoid my minor airport meltdown that kicked my adventure off last year).  It is, however, comforting to know that everything I feared last year (opening a bank account, setting up a cell phone, figuring out internet, figuring out the SNCF) is going to be easy breezy this time around.  I will be living on an extreme budget for the first month, but I'm already planning on visiting Metz again for a big exhibit to celebrate the opening of Pompidou Metz.  I still can't believe I'm going back on September 28!

Until then, I will be procrastinating packing, posting more "best-of/remember last year" pictures, playing regularly with my dog Zeus, trying to prioritize my "to see" list (wasn't it supposed to get smaller after last year?), and tying up loose ends to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as it did last year.

On a related note, Ellen Gozzi has drawn my ire for just offering my friend and former Lunéville compatriot a renewing assistant post at a Nancy lycée today.  Great, except her offer is about 2 months too late, and my friend already has a great job in Oregon.  And I know all-too-well that although Oregon is amazing, she would rather be back in Lorraine, especially in Nancy.  So Ellen Gozzi is getting a virtual fistshake from me this morning.

i used LCL bank, which was great. went in, made an appt. for later in the week. make sure to ask what documents you need before you come back. also, when its set up, ask for RIBs--you WILL need these to be paid!

as for phone, i used orange. just went in and got a plan mobicarte (pay as you go). there are similar-type plans at SFR, either work fine. didn't need any documents.

hope this helps! good luck!
